As you know our old place got hacked. So Nyn moved the board over to this place. Even that it is for free, it was ment as a temporary host.
The reason why we move again is that we want to have our full flexibility and all the options to modify the board for our purposes and our wishes.
This way we will decide when and what phpBB version is running, when and what kind of mod we will install for us Moosies, when and what kind of theme
will be installed.
I will have the honor -and an honor it is- to take over the technical part of the new forum. That means that I will mostely install, modify and apply new features to our board.
I also will give you a hand, if it comes to technical questions, issues or problems during posting messages (like I already did). So I still will fix posting, if they use wrong tags and such.
And I still will leave a message within such an edited posting to mark my editing.
Nyn's part is the main part. She is still the heart and with you all the soul of this forum. She does what she always did
If she is away or otherwise occupied, I will try to be a deputy as good as possible.
The next steps
As soon as my hosting provider confirmed my request, I will start to set up the new forum on our new host. This wont affect you, because it will be done in the background. At a certain point Nyn tries to get a backup of our postings from here which I will hopefully be able to restore on the new place. As soon as the new forum is up and running, Nyn will do another DNS switch. This will take approximately 24 to 48 hours until it is propagated around the world. You know that procedure already from the last time. Eventually you will have to re-register yourself. This is something I can't tell you right now.
The timeline
The whole procedure should be done within the next two maybe three weeks.
Data loss
We try to avoid any data loss during the move to the new forum but we can't guarantie it right now. This means that we will have to set the forum to a read only modus so no new posting can be done. If this should be the case, Nyn and/or I will still keep you informed here. We will post about the migration progress and the next steps. So don't be frustrated about it and come back to check out the status.
I can't speak for Nyn, I only can speak for my self. I hope you will stay on VoodooMoose. This community has a great (surely also a rough) past and will have a great future. Voodoomoose does not life through the administrators or moderators, it only lifes through you.
